Frequently asked Questions

The word Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is made of two Japanese words: Rei = “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and, Ki = “life force energy”. So, Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy” and is a healing system founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early part of the 1900’s in Japan.
Dr Mikao brought forth, (after many years of ancient Sanscript study), the sacred hand symbols and words which connect us to the Reiki frequency – and founded the Usui System of Natural Healing also known as” Shiki Ryoho Reiki.
Whilst Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to receive Reiki.

As a powerful healing technique, when Reiki energy is transferred into people, by laying on hands, one’s body intelligence will take the Reiki energy and send it to whatever or wherever needs
healing.
Reiki has an even more pronounced effect on healing mind and emotions, and works well for stress reduction and relaxation, which also promotes healing.

It’s very easy to receive a Reiki treatment, you lay down on the treatment couch fully clothed, and the Reiki practitioner will lay their hands in different positions around your body (head, torso, knees, feet and back) for about 3-5mins each, and you may feel warmth and or tingly sensations from their hands. You will feel extremely relaxed; may well drift off to sleep; you may have memories or feelings pop into your mind, or you may have visuals like different colour lights in your minds eye, everyone’s experience is different, ultimately, the Reiki energy will get your body mind into harmony and deep relaxation so that it can begin to heal.
You can also receive a distant Reiki treatment – it’s the same process as above except you are laying down somewhere comfortable at home, and the Reiki practitioner, after completing a series of special hand symbols and voicing sacred Japanese words given at initiation, to create an energetic bridge between the two of you – then “sends” the treatment –please ask for more details here.
