I have had both relaxation -wellbeing treatment and sports remedial massage treatment for post skiing and endurance cycling events and have found the treatments very beneficial in getting my legs back in shape and eliminating soreness.

Being slightly skeptical of treatments such as this I was quickly assured the benefits by Margaret. The Wellbeing Hub offers a relaxing environment for treatments and was very effective immediately feeling the benefit. We were so impressed that our workforce regularly have express back neck and shoulder sessions weekly

As part of unity's mental health awareness week, we invited Margaret to our office for the day where she performed express massages on staff. She set up in a meeting room, with all her equipment. The massage was great and loved by all! It was something different and something we will look to do again in future. Thanks Margaret.

I booked an express 20 min massage on my lunch break for my neck, shoulders and back. I was amazed that the therapist was able to get into all my awkward spots even though I was fully clothed! I left my appointment feeling extremely relaxed and ready to complete my workday back in the office

Frequently asked Questions

Have you ever banged your elbow and immediately rubbed or held it you’re your hand because
it’s hurting? That’s a natural innate healing instinct we humans have -to rub, “massage” the area because physical touch, does help to relieve pain and Massage therapy, is the advanced
manipulation of muscles and soft tissue by a qualified therapist with an understanding of anatomy and physiology, to reduce and heal physical pain and mental/emotional stress, and the “knots” that get stuck in muscles causing a pain in the neck, sore shoulders – the “bad back” that lots of us suffer with from time to time, and if not treated, then it can become permanent.

Good remedial and aromatherapy massage will make you feel relaxed and refreshed by
reducing muscle pain and tension caused by physical strain and also by alleviate the neck and
upper shoulder pain caused by mental and emotional stress. Science shows1 that even 10 mins
relaxation can reduce cortisol levels in blood – the major hormone associated with stress and
something as simple as neck massage increases PNS activity which calms us down by regulating
heart rate, breathing & digestion.

Stress affects our PNS (parasympathetic nervous system) which: –

  • reduces mental cognition; our ability to problem solve effectively or cope well under pressure.
  • Impacts our quality of life by affecting sleep & mood; cause physical pain and tension in our body,
  • causes headaches, anxiety, palpitations, IBS and if left unmanaged, eventual life changing health
    issues.

During the massage you will feel relaxed and afterwards, depending on the issue treated, you can
expect to feel an uplifted mood; reduced physical pain, better sleep, and mood generally because
your PNS (parasympathetic nervous system) has been regulated and relaxed. It’s very usual to drift
off whilst receiving massage, this is a good sign and means that your body is relaxing and allowing
your body/mind to “let go”.
The mid to long term benefits of regular massage treatments include reduced anxiety; palpitations;
IBS; headaches and improved ability to cope well under pressure.
If you know you’d benefit from a relaxing aromatherapy massage with oils but feel uncomfortable
with the idea of having to undress, let us reassure you that client modesty and comfort is ensured
at all times so there’s really nothing to worry about.
All massage is given in the relaxing treatment room at the Hub; with its ambient selenite and salt
lamps lighting, crystals, aromatherapy oil burner diffusing mood boosting aromatherapy essence
and the option to have relaxing background music if you wish.
Once you’ve arrived to your prebooked treatment and decided with the therapist what
aromatherapy oils to use, the therapist will leave the room giving you privacy to undress to your
undergarments, lie on the treatment couch, underneath the full length towels, and when the
therapist returns and begins treatment, they will unroll the towel over the area of your body to be
massaged, (e.g., the back; leg, arm) and leave the rest of you covered to keep you warm and cosy.
At the end of the treatment, the therapist will leave the room, again giving you privacy to dress
and when you’re ready, you leave the treatment room and see the therapist in reception to have a
glass of water and re-book your next treatment.
If it’s your first visit to the Wellbeing Hub, you’ll be given a short consultation form to complete –
to make sure we’re taking care of your health and wellbeing needs, and then depending on the
treatment booked, you’ll either be given a seated chair massage (for the express 15 or 20mins
wellbeing treatment), through clothes, a very effective pick me up during a busy stressful day), or
for longer remedial/aromatherapy treatments, (30/45/60 mins), as described above.
